Drug Overdoses Rise in Plymouth County In 2015, DA Says

The Plymouth County District Attorney says more than 140 people died from drug overdoses in 2015

State police responded to 142 suspected fatal drug overdoses in 2015, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz.

100 of the victims were male, and 42 were women. In 2014, State Police responded to a total 75 suspected fatal overdoses in the county for the year.

“The elevated number of fatal overdoses in Plymouth County unfortunately reflects the numbers being reported around the state and country,” Cruz said in a statement. “Opioids are causing tragedies everyday within our communities and everyone knows someone affected by this epidemic. Law enforcement will continue to work at combating the issue on all levels in 2016.”

Cruz’s office also released statistics on the number of homicides in the county in 2015. State Police assigned to the responded to 14 homicides in Plymouth County in 2015, according to the numbers.
