(plymouthindependent.org) — Plymouth officials are warning that rising health and pension costs could force layoffs and a Proposition 2½ tax override within a year or two if spending isn’t controlled. At this week’s Select Board meeting, the town manager outlined a difficult FY27 budget, potential cuts to services and hiring, and changes to employee health benefits as leaders look for ways to avoid a permanent tax hike on residents.

Before Hollywood Fame, Rob Reiner Got His Start in Plymouth (wbsm.com) — Many locals may not realize that Rob Reiner’s acting career began right here in Plymouth, where he and friend Albert Brooks spent the summer of 1965 performing at Priscilla Beach Theatre in Manomet. The story recalls how his father Carl Reiner helped arrange the gig, the humble living conditions, and other big-name performers who also passed through the historic barn theatre.
   

3. Bridgewater inmate convicted in beating death of Worcester man (enterprisenews.com) — A jury in Plymouth Superior Court has convicted Michael Robinson of involuntary manslaughter and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in the 2021 beating death of fellow inmate Scott Wonoski at the Massachusetts Treatment Center in Bridgewater. Plymouth County prosecutors say video showed Robinson attacking Wonoski in a bathroom before officers found him unresponsive; he later died at a Brockton hospital.
   

4. This Day in History: Dec. 18, 2025 (wtap.com) — Plymouth’s origins take center stage in this historical look back at the Mayflower’s arrival and the founding of Plymouth Colony in December 1620. The piece traces the Pilgrims’ journey, their harsh first winter, early relations with the Wampanoag, and how Plymouth grew into a key New England community later folded into Massachusetts.
