Fatal Route 44 Crash: Victim Identified
Massachusetts State Police said a Taunton man was killed in a crash on Route 44 in Carver.
CARVER, MA — Police on Friday identified the man killed in a crash on Route 44 in Carver last week. The victim was Daniel Newcomb, 31, of Taunton.
Massachusetts State Police said Newcomb was driving a Saturn sedan January 12 on Route 44 when he stopped in the breakdown lane for an unspecified reason. As Newcomb was outside the car, a 23-year-old Monponsett man crashed in Newcomb and his vehicle. Newcomb was transported to South Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash happened at about 12:35 a.m. on the westbound side of the road, police said.
