Fire Destroys Empty Seaview Drive Building

The State Fire Marshal's office is investigating a blaze that destroyed a single-family home on Seaview Drive Friday morning.

Fire destroyed an empty one-story house on Seaview Drive this morning and the state Fire Marshal's office is investigating whether it is a case of arson.

According to the Boston Globe, the fire at 116 Seaview Drive in Manomet was reported at about 3 a.m. Friday morning.

“We have been requested to go down there and assist in the investigation, but it’s early on,” Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan told the Globe.

He said it would be premature to say whether the blaze might be related to a recent string of arson or suspected arson fires in Southeastern Massachusetts. “Much too early to say anything,” he said.

Over the past several months, more than a dozen fires have started in empty buildings in southeastern Massachusetts.
