Five Things You Need to Know Today: May 19

The chancel choir of Christ Church Episcopal will perform a commissioned anthem to celebrate 100 years.

1. Plymouth's Run for 1 to support Boston's One Fund, takes place at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 25 starting at Pilgrim Memorial Park on the waterfront. The entry is fee is $25 per person or register a team for $100. Participants are encouraged to donate more.

2. As part of its Sunday at the Center series, The Plymouth Center for the Arts will hold an art critique from 1 to 3 p.m. today. Artists may submit up 3 pieces of artwork in any medium for critique by well known Plymouth artist and teacher, Andrew Kusmin. Admission is $5 and the event is open to the public. 3. Celebration of a century in Christ Church Episcopal’s stone church at 149 Court St. has been building in a low-keyed way for weeks. But that changes in a big way at 10 a.m. Pentecost Sunday, May 19, as 30-plus voices of the chancel choir dust off the rafters with a spectacular commissioned anthem named “Cornerstone.” The powerful words of the anthem are a poem written by longtime parishioner and well-known poet Dianne Harrison, set to music composed by Kaeza Fearn, music director at First Parish Church in Taunton. 4. The Plymouth Center for the Arts is calling for enteries for its Summer Fine Craft Show, to be held from July 29 to Aug. 11. Members of the Center and their friends may submit up to 4 items for a $10 entry fee. A minimum of two items will be included in the show. The Center is looking  looking for objects made from wood, glass, metal, fiber (quilting, felting, clothing etc...) jewelry, decoupage and multi-media works. All entries must be for sale.
