Five Things You Need to Know Today: May 21
This Memorial Day, Emeritus will deliver care packages to local senior veterans as part of its "Heroes Emeritus" to honor them for their service.

1. Plymouth's Run for 1 to support Boston's One Fund, takes place at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 25 starting at Pilgrim Memorial Park on the waterfront. The entry is fee is $25 per person or register a team for $100. Participants are encouraged to donate more.
2. Sending care packages to troops overseas is a time-honored tradition. This Memorial Day, Emeritus is continuing the tradition by announcing “Heroes Emeritus” – an initiative to deliver care packages to local senior veterans and veterans' families and to honor them for their service. The care packages will consist of nightlights, first aid kits, medication management containers, water bottles, nutritious snacks and other items to help ensure our local heroes are safe in their homes. Heroes Emeritus is an extension of the “Safely Somewhere” program, which helps ensure all seniors are safe wherever they live. The care package will also contain an Emeritus Medal of Valor, thanking veterans for their service. 3. Celebrate the wild beauty of birds of Plymouth Long Beach through the eyes of an accomplished wildlife photographer from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 (originally scheduled for May 14), at the Plymouth Senior Center, located at 44 Nook Road. Jim Fenton’s exhibit, “Flight Path,” will be on display and he will offer a slide presentation, describe his adventures and answer questions. Refreshments will be served.

4. The Plymouth Center for the Arts is calling for enteries for its Summer Fine Craft Show, to be held from July 29 to Aug. 11. Members of the Center and their friends may submit up to 4 items for a $10 entry fee. A minimum of two items will be included in the show. The Center is looking looking for objects made from wood, glass, metal, fiber (quilting, felting, clothing etc...) jewelry, decoupage and multi-media works. All entries must be for sale.
