The Headless Horseman Haunts Carver in Spooky One-Man Show

Ghostly one-man show brings the classic tale of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman to a historic Carver church.

As the days get shorter and the nights grow colder, there's a certain kind of story that feels just right. Americana Theatre Company (ATC) is bringing one of the spookiest classics to life with its one-man show, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," running from October 29 through November 2 at the historic Union Church in Carver.

This is no ordinary retelling. This is a bold, imaginative, one-actor adaptation of Washington Irving's classic tale, created by ATC's Artistic Directors Derek Martin and Jesse Sullivan. It tells the story of the lanky schoolmaster Ichabod Crane and his terrifying encounter with the infamous Headless Horseman. The show has been performed nationally, but what makes this run extra special is the location. The historic Union Church, surrounded by an old burial ground, is the perfect, and perhaps most spine-chilling, backdrop for a ghostly visit. You might even feel like the Headless Horseman is right outside the window!

The show features Nick Hancock, a fan favorite who audiences will remember as Smee from ATC’s summer production of "Peter and the Starcatcher." Hancock is a versatile performer, choreographer, and teaching artist with a wide range of credits that prove he's got the chops to bring a whole cast of characters to life all on his own.

Whether you're a fan of spooky stories, classic literature, or incredible live theater, this is the perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit. ATC is known for its commitment to telling great stories, and this production promises to be a masterclass in solo performance.
So, are you brave enough to take a trip to Carver and see if Ichabod Crane makes it home?
