Plymouth's New Year's Baby

Jordan Nicholas Mantell was born Jan. 1, 2013 at 6:10 p.m. at Jordan Hospital; the first New Year's Baby at Jordan.

It wasn't Anne Marie and Michael Mantell's plan to have a New Year's baby.

Their original due date was Jan. 6, but after months of bedrest due to hypertension, Anne was ready to have her baby a bit early.

"Anne was scheduled for induction NY Eve," her husband Michael said.

Jordan Nicholas Mantell was born at 6:10 p.m., Jan. 1; the first baby born at Jordan Hospital in 2013. He was 7.5 pounds and 19 inches long.

Jordan is the Mantell's third son, all born in January, all at Jordan Hospital, and all with names beginning with "J".

"Our first son Jaccob born Jan. 31, 2006 was three weeks early. Next was Jayce born a week late, Jan. 29, 2010," Michael said. "We did decide to keep our third son with a J name after thoughtful consideration....We didnt even think that we named him the same name as the hospital until well into the pregnancy."

Having the first baby of the New Year wasn't somehting the Mantell's thought about.

"It didnt matter when Jordan was born, or what time, I'm sure after laboring so long Anne would have preferred sooner," Michael said.
