Shea Custom Carpentry Acquires Stanne Construction

One Plymouth Family-Owned Business Buys Another

(Shea Custom Carpentry, Inc. )

Shea Custom Carpentry Inc. announced its acquisition of another full-service contractor in Plymouth, Stanne Construction Inc., on June 16. Both companies have served customers on the South Shore and Cape Cod for more than four decades, providing home renovations, additions, hardscape services and more.

“We are proud to announce the joining of two local favorites in the remodeling industry. These two great companies are now one,” said Ed Shea, owner of Shea Custom Carpentry.

Anthony Stanne, known as Jim, was an active volunteer in the Plymouth community and the owner of Stanne Construction. When he started teaching woodshop at Silver Lake High School, he moved to Southeastern Massachusetts, where he later built both a home and a company. After Stanne passed away in February, his family decided it was best to sell the company.

“Though it is hard to say goodbye to a company that has been a part of the family for over 40 years, I know that it is in good hands with Shea Custom Carpentry. Jim’s legacy of commitment to quality and customer service will continue on under this new ownership,” said Lynn Stanne, Jim’s wife. During their conversation with her, Shea and his team expressed how honored they are to continue his legacy.

One or two familiar faces from Stanne Construction will continue their careers under the leadership of Shea, who looks forward to welcoming them to his team. Shea Custom Carpentry will maintain its office in Plymouth, while the shop in Harwich will relocate to the former Stanne Construction shop on Long Pond Road in Plymouth. The company will continue to offer services covering all phases of building and remodeling including design and planning, large-scale home renovations, new construction, landscaping, hardscaping, property management, and debris removal through their sister company, Shea Custom Containers, Inc. Shea Custom Carpentry will continue operations under its existing name.

“Any client of Stanne Construction will receive the same exceptional customer service, quality of work, and attention to detail that we have been providing to our clients throughout the years,” Shea said. He added that, as a family-owned business, Shea Custom Carpentry remains committed to building long-term relationships with families on the South Shore and Cape Cod.

Shea anticipates the growth this acquisition will bring and said his team plans to carry Stanne’s business forward with pride. “Whether it be a small handyman service or a large-scale project, Mary and our office team are ready to answer the call,” said Shea.
