Town Hall Changes Hours

Selectmen say that residents want Town Hall to be open five days a week, even if it means offices will only be open until 4 p.m.

Plymouth Town Hall is changing its business hours beginning in September, after more than three years of being on a four-day schedule.

Effective Sept. 3, Town Hall offices will switch to a Monday through Friday schedule. Offices will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Town Hall currently operates on a Monday through Thursday schedule. Offices are open from 7:30 to 5 p.m. daily, except Tuesday, when offices are open until 7 p.m.

Selectmen asked Town Manager Melissa Arrighi to negotiate with employee unions for the change, reasoning that residents were unhappy with the short week.

"The Selectmen felt very strongly that we go back to five days so they listed that as one of my goals for last year and I had to negotiate it with the union," Arrighi said.
