Wrong-Way Crash Kills Driver Along Route 3: State Police

Several people called State Police early Friday morning to report the driver going the wrong way, officials said.

PLYMOUTH, MA — A driver died early Saturday in a wrong-way crash along Route 3 in Plymouth, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Several southbound callers reported the driver to state police shortly before midnight, and a trooper on patrol later saw a single-vehicle crash near mile marker 9.2, officials said.

The driver, who has not been identified, suffered serious injuries in the crash. No other occupants were in the vehicle, per state police.

First responders transported the driver to a hospital in Boston, where they were later pronounced dead.

All southbound lanes of Route 3 were closed for more than three hours while Plymouth Police and state troopers investigated.

State Police offered their condolences to the driver's family and loved ones. Officials will continue to investigate the crash.
