Accused Quincy Uber Rapist Has Fled The Country

QUINCY, MA — A Quincy man accused of raping a women he was driving around for Uber is no longer in the country.

Frederick Amfo, 30, was arrested April 8 on a charge of rape and posted $10,000 cash bail Friday. The victim wrote in an email to the Patriot Ledger that Amfo not only fled town, but the country as well.

Authorities are not sure how this happened. Quincy District Court Clerk Magistrate Arthur Tobin said that he was getting to bottom of this and the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a detainer on Amfo.

Police say Amfo was driving the woman from Quincy to Weymouth early Sunday when he stopped the car a good distance away from her destination, got in the back seat, and raped her.

An Uber spokesperson said that Amfo has been removed as a driver.

Court documents show conditions for Amfo's bail included surrounding his passport and staying away from the victim and her home, and no driving for a rides hare company.

The understandably angry victim said she is "scortched-Earth mad" and wondered why Amfo wasn't held until his passport was taken.

A non-bailable warrant for Amfo's has been granted by a Quincy District Court judge due to his failure to report to probation upon his release and surrender his passport, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's office.
