Quincy 400 Birthday Celebration took new heights with A Grand Hot Air Balloon Ride and Laser Show

More than 3,000 residents and visitors celebrate Quincy's milestone with food, music, and family-friendly fun.

On Saturday September 20 2025 with an impressive gathering for more than 3000 Quincy Residents and others from miles around. This was one of the many highlights the City Official's and Quincy’s Mayor Thomas P. Koch QUINCY 400 Birthday Celebration given the City and all who came to join in this spectacular event. Held at Quincy’s picturesque Pageant Field over looking Blacks Creek and Wollaston Beach! This backdrop was the perfect spot to feature Three large Hot Air Balloons.

For those who wanted to Register to go up in a tethered Balloon could do so at the Balloon Tent! At 4 pm Pageant field opened to hundreds waiting to scurry up to Register for a ride ! By 5pm more than 500 Registered! A huge attendance was due to Balloonshow.com who wowed young and old with their Hot Air Balloons!

Besides the Main Attraction, Food Trucks lined the street up to the field along with costumed characters thrilling the children and taking photos every which way, such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Bluey, Josh The Otter and more! I thought Josh The Otter was a big hit with the little ones!
A stage was set up to entertain everyone who brought blankets, chairs or just sat on the grass or stood up for the entertainment and gave a thunderous applaud all the performances!

Additional treats came from free balloons from Quincy College, Jungle Jim Balloon Magic made all the children happy with his creations.

So much excitement and enthusiasm was all around from Adam’s Field with two additional character Hot Air Balloons on display and allowed anyone who wanted to step in the Gondola Basket to see up close how it worked without leaving the ground!

I was thrilled to see that this well organized event made everyone so happy! At one point WCVB TV came to film a segment for Channel 5!

The Hot Air Balloon Rides was briefly delayed due to an ocean breeze but that did not discourage those Registered to get onboard the gondola basket. The ride fits between 6 or 8 or depending on the weight which needs to be evenly distributed to balance for flight.
