Dates Set for $107.8 Million School Building Project Votes

Town-wide vote for the school building project would be on March 24.

The time has come to vote for the . There will be a special town meeting Monday, March 19 at 7 p.m. at the  followed by a Special Election March 24 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at . The Board of Selectmen voted on the dates at Monday's meeting.

Special Town Meeting will require 2/3 vote and Special Election will require majority vote to pass. 

The selectmen announced the final figure for the project: $107.8 million. The state will reimburse 51.49 percent of that cost, which according to Selectmen Chairman Bob Mauceri is estimated to be between $48 and 50 million, given that certain items are not eligible for reimbursement.

That figure still may change, as the town has not gone out to bid yet. If the town votes for the project, the bids will be sent out and the final figures they receive may end up being less than estimated.
