Dr. Garcia-Rogers Named Volunteer Hero by Massachusetts Dental Society

Resident Geraldine C. Garcia-Rogers, DMD, MS, was recently recognized as a William McKenna Volunteer Hero for her substantial contributions to organized dentistry at both the state and local district levels.

The following was submitted by The Massachusetts Dental Society:

Geraldine C. Garcia-Rogers, DMD, MS, was recently recognized as a William McKenna Volunteer Hero by the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS), a statewide organization serving nearly 5,000 member dentists. Dr. Garcia-Rogers was acknowledged by her peers for substantial contributions to organized dentistry at both the state and local district levels.

“My volunteering experiences are all rewarding on so many levels,” says Dr. Garcia-Rogers, who is known to her patients as Dr. Gigi. “When children actually give you hugs for getting them out of pain or giving them a better smile, it is the most gratifying ‘payment’ anyone can receive.”

Dr. Garcia-Rogers is a past chair of the Middlesex District Dental Society and served as an MDS Guest Board Member in 2010-2011. Dr. Garcia-Rogers is also an active volunteer with Yankee Dental Congress, New England’s largest dental meeting, and was a member of the Society’s inaugural Leadership Institute class. In addition, she has volunteered on the Mobile Access to Care Van in Lawrence.

Dr. Garcia-Rogers is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. She maintains pediatric practices in Winchester and Reading, and resides in North Reading.

The Volunteer Hero award is given in memory of the late Dr. William H. McKenna, who was a driving force behind the development of the Yankee Dental Congress and considered by many to have been a model of volunteerism within the MDS.
