Event of the Week: North Reading Food and Wine Social

Stop by the Food and Wine Social on Friday at 7 p.m.

The North Reading Parks and Recreation Department are hosting their annual  on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the . 

Enjoy food from 17 local restaurants, wine and lagers from around the world and participate in a silent auction.

"This will be the 11th year this fundraiser will be held. The proceeds from this event has funded the installation of the permanent bathrooms at Ipswich River Park and the new pavilion across from the street hockey rink. This year the proceed will go toward the beginning stages of planning a community center," said Parks and Recreation Secretary Sheila Sturdevant.

According to Sturdevant, the department starts the planning for this event every year in the fall and they work until the spring to ensure its success.

"We have many wonderful auction items that are donated by local businesses owners and citizen's. These donated item raise a good amount of monies. It is amazing the support we receive from our local business owner, citizen's and community," she said.

The Parks and Recreation Department expects between 250 to 350 people. Attendants will learn how to pair wines and lagers with different foods and get the opportunity to buy the auction items at a great price.
