READING, MA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

This submission comes from Ann Klein, who nominated her son and daughter-in-law, Harrison and Melanie Klein. Harrison and Melanie are both nurses taking care of COVID-19 patients at different Lahey Clinic locations.

What does the nominee do for work?

Harrison is nurse works on COVID-19 floor taking care of patients. Melanie is nurse who tests patients for COVID-19 in urgent care. Both are employed at different Lahey Clinic locations.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?

They both are on the front lines. Harrison cares for many sick people. Both have to wear PPE and PPE is getting scarce. It's a very stressful time.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?

Harrison is a recent nurse who started working in December. Melanie has been a nurse for several years. Both love their jobs, are very kind people and just got married in December 2019.
