Selectmen Vote to Maintain Current Water Rates

Water rates will remain the same until June 30, 2013.

At Tuesday night’s Selectmen meeting, the board voted to maintain current water rates for the next fiscal year. All members of the board were in favor of the rates, except for Selectman Mike Prisco.

According to Selectmen Chairman Bob Mauceri, the to and to prevent raising rates again after a slow year.

North Reading has a three-tier water rate structure. According to the town website, “under this rate structure, water consumption up to 10,000 gallons per quarter is charged at the first tier rate of $7.30 per 1,000 gallons.”

You will be considered part of the second tier if you use more than 10,000 gallons per quarter, and charged $10.70 per 1,000 gallons.

You will be considered part of the third tier if you use more than 22,500 gallons per quarter, and charged $14.60 per 1,000 gallons.
