Several Lockers Broken Into at Reading High, Phones Stolen

The following is an excerpt from the Reading Police Department log. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the  log from Monday through Wednesday. The information is open to the public.

Monday, March 12

  • At 11:31 a.m., a Linnea Lane resident reported that her garden gnome was taken overnight. Another Reading resident found the gnome and returned to the police station. Police returned the gnome to its owner.
  • At 11:34 a.m., a car accident was reported on Main Street.
  • At 3:24 p.m., an unknown caller reported an erratic operator on Main Street. Police stopped the vehicle on Middlesex Avenue and issued the passenger an open container violation.
  • At 3:28 p.m., an unknown caller reported a minor car accident on Main Street.
  • At 7:15 p.m., an unknown caller reported that a car and motorcycle were involved in an accident on Main Street.

Tuesday, March 13

  • At 1:55 p.m., an unknown caller reported that a cell phone was taken from .
  • At 4:27 p.m., an anonymous witness reported that males were dumping what appeared to be cement behind . Police investigated, but saw no signs of dumping. 
  • At 4:45 p.m., an unknown caller reported a car accident on Oak Street.
  • At 6:40 p.m., a Franklin Street resident reported that his mailbox was damaged overnight.

Wednesday, March 14

  • At 10:55 a.m., a Franklin Street resident reported that his tires were slashed overnight.
  • At 12:15 p.m., an unknown caller reported a minor car accident on Washington Street.
  • At 1:12 p.m., an unknown caller reported that youths were ringing doorbells in the Winthrop Avenue area. The youths and one mother was spoken to by police and they said it wouldn't happen again.
  • At 2:57 p.m., an employee from the reported that the library was receiving harassing phone calls and emails. 
  • At 5:47 p.m., a Reading resident reported that while her son was at lacrosse practice his phone was taken from his locker. The resident's son reported that several lockers were broken into.
  • At 6:09 p.m., an unknown caller reported that used syringes were found at the cemetery. Police retrieved the items.
  • At 8:29 p.m., a Sunset Rock Lane resident reported possible Internet fraud.
