Wowbrary At the Library

The library has a new service for residents.

The installed a new, free system to make it easy for residents to learn what new books, movies and music are available. Access the Wowbrary system online for a description of the items and ability to reserve books or videos.

"I'm glad that the Friends of the Flint decided to buy this because I think a lot of people will enjoy being able to browse and order new books and videos that they can then just borrow from the library," said President of the Friends of the Flint Memorial Library Adrienne Callahan.

Find a book or movie online that you want to check out, but is not currently available? All you need is a library card to hold items you want, and the system will alert you when they are ready to be picked up. Sign up online or in person at the library.

"The Trustees, library staff, and I are very pleased that the Friends are sponsoring Wowbrary. People often ask us for lists of new materials. We can now point them to Wowbrary. Wowbrary lets library users access this information in several ways- through email; on the library website; via rss feed and Facebook," Director of the Library Helena Minton said. "Users can arrange to read the weekly updates on a computer or on a mobile device. Quite a few people have already signed up for Wowbrary, even though the first email just went out this week. We've received some very positive feedback. People like the summaries and they like the way the emails look."

The weekly Wowbrary e-lists provide a link to Amazon.com. If you decide to buy something, Amazon will return a portion of each purchase price to the Friends of the Library.
