5 Things: Roslindale Library Book Sale Days; and Third Thursday

Also today is Parkway Pop Warner Football & Cheerleading sign-ups at Billings Field in West Roxbury.

 

  1. This week is the Roslindale Branch Library Book Sale starting today with the Friends Members Reception Preview Sale. 6-8 p.m. On Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., along with the used book sale, there will be yarn and craft books also for sale, and refreshments, from 6 to 8 p.m. there will be modern bluegrass band More Smarter playing. There will be a special discount given to teachers. 4246 Washington St.
  2. On Thursday is the second-ever Third Thursday in Roslindale Village! Stores will be staying open later offering sales, discounts, music, entertainment, speciality drinks and food, and more!
  3. Also today is Parkway Pop Warner Football & Cheerleading sign-ups at Billings Field in West Roxbury. Boys and girls from ages 7-15 as of July 31, 2013 are eligible to join Parkway Pop Warner Football and Cheer from West Roxbury, Roslindale, Hyde Park, and Jamaica Plain. This program is a great way to experience the game of football or the sport of cheerleading. Kids experience working together as a team and learn discipline. No tryouts required. 6 p.m. Stop by, they'll probably be grilling. 
  4. On Thursday there will be a Folk Couture Trunk Show at Minerva's Owl. Funky and fun one-of-a-kind dresses will be on sale at a trunk show featuring the dressmaking art of Grace Napoleon, the talent behind Folk Couture. Grace makes iconic dresses featuring the influences of our time: Mister Rogers, Pacman, Jimi Hendrix...even Star Wars! Through thoughful and artistic upcycling, Grace creates perfect, wonderful dresses suitable for vacations, gatherings and even everyday! Come find the dress that speaks to you! Wine and munchies will be served. No need to RSVP, just come on down! 5:30-8:30 p.m.
  5. A part of the Roslindale Branch Library Book Sale on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be Seniors Discount Day with refreshments. On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will also be yarn and books for sale.
  6. On Friday bike to Boston City Hall Plaza with Rozzie Bikes from Adams Park leaving at 7:10 a.m. for the Bike Week Celebration from 7 to 9 a.m. There will be vendors, a small expo area, free breakfast and morning refreshments.
