- On Friday, the Roslindale Day Parade Committee annual Benefit Dinner & Talent Contest is taking place at the St. Nectarios Church. Tickets $20 purchased at door. The evening will feature the 4th annual Talent Contest for cash prizes and a chance to be honored on the Committee's special float in the parade. 7-11 p.m. 39 Belgrade Ave.
- Today is Toddler Story Time and Singalong at the Roslindale Library. 10:30-11:30 a.m. 4246 Washington St. Free.
- In the mood for live music tonight? Check out Blues in the Village with Common Ground starting at 8:30 p.m. at Birch Street Bistro.
- On Saturday is the Haley Pilot School's Spring Spectacular at the Mass Audubon's Boston Nature Center. The fundraiser is open to the greater Roslindale community and its neighbors. A silent and live auction, with Mayor Thomas Menino scheduled to be the live auctioneer. Featured auction items include: An Orlando theme-park adventure for four; A customized pair of Reebok sneakers; The 2013 American Girl Doll, Sadie; A Fugi Absolute 3.0 Hybrid bike; Golf for four at William J Divine Golf Course; and a roundtrip airfare to Lisbon for two. Light hors d'oeuvres provided by event sponsor East Meets West Catering, however attendees are encouraged to pack a picnic lunch or plan to enjoy dinner from one of the one site food vendors, The Dining Car and the Cupcakory. Activities for children include a performance by Jenny the Juggler as well as nature exploration activities organized by the Boston Nature Center staff. Event tickets may be purchased online at a suggested donation cost of $5-$20 per family. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event on location as well. 500 Walk Hill St., Boston. 4-7 p.m.
