Healy Tot Lot Closed During Flaherty Pool Renovations

The Healy Playground tot lot is expected to be closed in Roslindale at least through June 1, 2013.

The Healy Playground tot lot in Roslindale will be closed to at least June 1 of next year due to the lot's proximity to Flaherty Pool renovations.

Citing concerns for the safety of park users during the construction project, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department announced the closing of the lot this week.

Construction began on Monday to the Flaherty Pool, which is undergoing a much-needed $5.6 million complete renovation including upgrades to the exterior, all mechanical systems, the locker rooms and interior spaces, and the pool itself.

“This is a fast track project and there will be a heavy amount of construction traffic on a daily basis with a great deal of activity in and around the building,” said Boston Parks Commissioner Antonia Pollak, via press release. “For the safety of all, the area will be fenced off and the tot lot closed until the Flaherty Pool reconstruction project is complete.”
