Is Roslindale Bike-Friendly? RozzieBikes Ride on Friday

This week is Bay State Bike Week -- and while Boston has done a lot to improve the bicycling infrastructure, is Roslindale a bike-friendly neighborhood?

From May 11 to 19 is Bay State Bike Week. During the last couple of years Boston has focused on making the city more bike-friendly.

Locally in Roslindale, think of the bicycling lanes on Washington Street that go into Roslindale Village.

Do bicyclists feel safe riding on Washington Street? How are vehicle drivers when it comes to respecting bicyclists? And are bicyclists respectful of drivers?

On Friday morning before work, nine group rides will end at Boston City Hall.

Leave Adams Park in Roslindale Square at 7:10 a.m.; Leave Forest Hills at the start of Southwest Corridor bike path at 7:20 a.m.; Leave Stony Brook Orange Line Station at 7:30 a.m.; Arrive at City Hall Plaza for festival round 8 a.m.

The Bike Week Celebration at City Hall Plaza will be from 7 to 9 a.m. There will be vendors, a small expo area, free breakfast and morning refreshments. 

Also on Saturday, MassBike will be at EarthFest, and offering free valet bike parking from 11:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
