Markey Won in Roslindale - Ward-by-Ward Breakdown of U.S. Senate Primary

Republican Gabriel Gomez will face Democrat U.S. Rep Ed Markey on June 25 to choose who will be Massachusetts' junior senator.

 

Democratic and current U.S. Congressman Ed Markey will face Republican Gabriel Gomez in a June 25 special election to determine Massachusetts' second U.S. Senator. And not unexectedly Markey garnered more votes throughout Roslindale's wards and precincts.

In total, Markey received 1,840 votes to U.S. Congressman Steven Lynch's 1,292 in the Democrat primary, according to unofficial results from the City of Boston's Elections Department. Please see attached screen shots.

Markey will face Republican Gabriel Gomez in a June 25th special election to replace John Kerry, who became the U.S. Secretary of State. 

Gomez took home 382 votes in Roslindale, compared to Michael Sullivan's 298, and state Rep. Dan Winslow's 90.

But in the June 25 election, voters can choose to vote for any party's candidate, blank vote or do a write-in, so Gomez could grab more votes.

West Roxbury consists of precincts 3-7 and 10-20 in Ward 20. Roslindale consists of three wards, precincts 7, 9-11, 22 in Ward 18; precincts 10-11, 13 in Ward 19; and precincts 1-2, 8-9 in Ward 20.
