Roslindale Food Pantry Re-Opening May 18

The Roslindale Food Pantry closed temporarily in March to restructure operations.

After a 2.5-month hiatus, the Roslindale Food Pantry will be back in business on May 18 supporting residents in need.

The pantry, which operates out of the Roslindale Congregational Church at 25 Cummins Highway, was closed on March 1, to deal with attrition of staff and address the infrastructure of the pantry.

Two new facets of the Roslindale Food Pantry is new Saturday afternoon hours to enable leftover produce from the Roslindale Village Farmers' Market to be given out. Also, only Roslindale residents will be allowed to receive food from the pantry, and personal identification must be presented to receive food.

Below is a portion of the email sent by the Roslindale Food Pantry:

The Roslindale Food Pantry is re-opening on Saturday, May 18th with new hours: 3-5 pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The Saturday hours will enable us to make left-over produce from the Farmers Market available to our families. New volunteers are welcome! The Roslindale Food Pantry was established as an emergency food pantry more than 30 years ago, and the families we serve within Roslindale may "shop" at the Food Pantry once per month (there will be some choices of food within specific categories). As we re-open, families will be required to register with the Food Pantry, whether they are coming for the first time or returning. Please be sure to bring a form of personal identification, such as a driver's license or a state ID, as well as proof of income, your home address (you must live in Roslindale, 02131), and the number of adults and children in your household. Families coming to shop should bring their own bags (limit of 3).
