Undercover drug control unit officers approached the suspects after they believed witnessing a street level drug transaction occur at the intersection of Metropolitan Avenue and Washington Street. Hancock allegedly struggled with an officer, and another officer needed to assist in handcuffing the suspect, according to a Boston Police report.

The suspects said they had met because one of them owed the other money. Officers allegedly recovered $134 of cash from Reynolds front pocket; and an officer recovered three plastic bags of a tan substance believed to be heroin that was on the curb where the suspect had been laying after the struggle.

The suspects gave contradictory statements about the money, thus they were arrested. Upon being placed in custody, Reynolds allegedly said, "I'll beat this case just like I beat my last case, wait till you meet my lawyer."

Also during booking, Reynolds allegedly said during his one phone call, "Baby shut off my phone they have my phone."

While writing up the police report, Reynolds' phone rang several times, with an officer answering once with the caller asking, "You around can we meet?" to which the officer responded "Ok, ya, what do you need?" to which the individual replied, "I just need one." The suspect also allegedly received a text message from "STEVE" stating "I need a 40".
