5 Ways To Celebrate Spring This Weekend

Here are 5 Patch picks for things to do in the city this weekend.

From the sound of weather reports, it's looking up for the weekend. We've all been stuck inside long enough so cast off the winter chill and start making spring weekend plans. There is plenty to do in the city this weekend.

Happily Ever After -- Little girls are encouraged to wear pink dresses, hats and gloves and go to at noon on Saturday. Tea, punch and a buffet will be served. There will be music and photos with the Hawthorne Hotel princesses. The event will be held in the Grand Ballroom. Reservations can be made by calling 987-825-4311, $18.50 for children 4-12; $12 children 0-3; $28 grown-ups.

Laugh A Little -- will be presented at the Saturday night. The show starts at 7:30 with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m. for a pre-show reception. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are $20 per person. Seating is limited so book now. For tickets call the Griffen Theatre 978-825-0222. All proceeds will be donated to the Salem Lions Charities.

April Showers Bring May Flowers --  Get gardening with your family at the Sunday at 2 p.m. Guests will listen to “The Curious Garden” by Peter Brown and “The Imaginary Garden” by Andrew Larsen. Following the story, there will be opportunity to sculpt an ivy topiary. This event is best for children 5 to 8-years-old. Reservations are required by today. 

Spring Cleaning? -- So you made space in your closet when you did some spring cleaning last weekend right? So head down to two of Salem's newest stores; in the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall (once home to) and on Washington Street. While you're at it, check out Urban Elements' and Sankofa Massage's new home across the street from Re-find. If you find the perfect item to bring home -- comment below and tell us about it!

Dance for Stephen -- He made a difference in the city so support a good cause in his name. The 12th Annual Spring Dance to benefit the Stephen M. O’Grady Foundation is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus. There will be a DJ, light snacks, multiple door prizes, raffle items and a 50-50. The dance is open to all, tickets are $20.
