Downtown Salem's Ledger Restaurant Names Executive Chef

Owner Matt O'Neil and the newly named executive chef are planning the menu for Ledger's expected June opening.

SALEM, MA – Matt O'Neil, chef and owner of The Blue Ox in Lynn and Ledger restaurant in Salem, announced the Ledger's executive chef on Wednesday.

Chef Daniel Gursha, local culinarian, will fill the executive chef position at Ledger, and help O'Neil create the menu. According to a press release, Ledger is expected to open this June.

"Chef Gursha’s diverse background and passion for the culinary arts, paired with his years of perfecting classic and regional cooking techniques, are exactly the kind of skills I had in mind when searching for Ledger’s Executive Chef," said O’Neil. "Daniel shares my vision of what type of fare will be served at Ledger, and we are deep in the process of writing the menu, finding sources for the best ingredients, and building an incredible kitchen team."

Gursha's love of cooking stems from cooking with his Egyptian grandmother when growing up in Boston. He's a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary arts, and worked for years at Bambara in Cambridge. Previously, Gursha completed a four-month stage at the two Michelin star Noma restaurant in Copenhagen, and worked alongside prominent French chef Alain Senderens in Paris, and at NYC’s Bouley and A Voce, both Michelin starred restaurants.
