John Keenan Approved To Serve As SSU President
Breaking: The Mass. Board of Higher Education has approved John Keenan to serve as president of Salem State.

SALEM, MA – John Keenan will serve as Salem State University's 14th president. The Mass. Board of Education unanimously approved Keenan during a meeting on Tuesday.
Keenan is expected to begin his role in August 2017.
"I’m deeply honored to be given the opportunity to lead an institution that inspires me every day," said Keenan in a statement. "The talent and dedication of our faculty, staff and students drive my passion for Salem State’s work and mission. I’m eager to collaborate with the entire campus community and advocate tirelessly for our shared goal: ensuring opportunity and success for those who dream of a college education."

Some faculty members previously objected to the Board of Trustees' recommendation of Keenan, preferring another finalist for the job.
