Man Swears At Library Staff, Man 'Takes The Fifth'

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police log from Tuesday through Wednesday. Police responded to calls about a stolen transmission and a report of a stolen gym bag.Â
- At 6:13 p.m. Tuesday, a resident brought a set of keys into the police station after they found them at the dog park. Police noticed a Lynn YMCA tag on the keys so they called the Y and found out who the keys belonged to.
- At 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, police made a motor vehicle stop on Broad Street and issued the driver a citation for driving with an expired license and driving with a revoked registration.
- At 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a gym on Traders Way after a man told police he was showering when his gym bag was stolen. The bag had his clothes, phone and car keys in it. Police took a report and towed his car from the lot to prevent it from being stolen.
- At 1:16 a.m. Wednesday, police went to an Essex Street residence for a male knocking on an apartment door. The resident told police someone had buzzed her so she let him in. When she looked out her apartment door, she saw a man she did not know. Police checked the building, but did not find the man.
- Wednesday at 1:29 a.m., police responded to a one-car accident on North Street near Franklin Street. The person at the accident refused to answer any of the officers' questions and said he was taking the Fifth Amendment. The man would not say who was driving, if he owned the car, if he was hurt or what happened. There was damage to one side of the car and two tires were no longer attached. Police towed the car and will hold it until they find out who was driving.
- At 9:11 a.m. Wednesday, a business owner on Derby Street said someone dumped 20 tires near his building.
- At 9:18 a.m. Wednesday, police served a no trespass order to a man at the library who was using profanity and being rude to library staff, police said. This was not the first time, staff said.Â
- At 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, police placed a man in protective custody after finding him intoxicated and wet in the South Harbor Garage.
- Police responded to a Grove Street garage at 10:17 a.m. Wednesday after the owner told police he caught two men on his surveillance camera remove a transmission from a pickup truck in his garage overnight. The footage was not clear enough to get a license plate number. Police will work on trying to obtain a number from the tape and do extra checks of the area.Â
Also on Wednesday:
- Joseph Crasco, 24, 3 Emily Lane, Georgetown, was arrested and charged with possession of class A substance and a violation of the city's knife ordinance.Â
