Police Teams Involved in Massive Search for Missing Mother

Dozens of officers, including from a regional police team, are searching the woods of Salem and Swampscott Wednesday for a mising mother.

Multiple teams of police are searching the woods near the Swampscott and Salem line Wednesday morning in the search for a missing Swampscott mother.

The search is in the area of Technology Way and Swampscott Road in Salem and Danvers Road in Swampscott.

Jamiee Mendez, 25, was last seen on Thursday evening and reported missing on Saturday. Mendez is a 25-year-old mother from Swampscott who was last seen with a level 3 sex-offender, who Mendez’s family says lives near the woods where police are searching - on the Lynn side.

The Middlesex County sheriff’s department set up a command post in the area, according to Justin Michaels of NECN, a Salem resident. The search got underway at about 7 a.m.

Dozens of officers, including many from the Northeast Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, were taking part in the search, which included several police K-9s and other specialized equipment from NEMLEC.

Officers asked MBTA commuter rail trains running through the area to be aware that officers will be on or near the tracks, which runs through the area.

Jamiee Mendez’s sister, Alyssa, told reporters Tuesday that Jamiee is a responsible person who would not have abandoned her family, including a young son, “so there is something that’s off there,” The Boston Globe reported.
