'Probably Not' Human Bones: Salem Police Log

Out-of-state license problems, "probably not" human bones, and more from the Salem Police log.

  • Police arrested David Avalo, 21, of Hyde Park, was arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit assault with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit home invasion last Wednesday.
  • Joseph J. Karas, 59, of Marblehead, was arrested on charges of drugged driving and negligent driving last Wednesday around midnight after police pulled a car over for erratic driving on Washington Street.
  • Police responded to a report of suspicious activity on a school bus last Thursday around 6 p.m. Officers stopped the bus and spoke to members of a lacrosse team.
  • Yahaira Rivera, 25, of Lynn, was arrested on charges of malicious destruction of property and disturbing the peace on Saturday around 9 p.m. after police were called to a report of a disturbance on Palmer Street.
  • Officers responded to Essex Street for a report of a drunk woman who had fallen down on Saturday around midnight. Police didn't find anyone.
  • Police went to Bertuccio Avenue for a report of a person banging on a door around 1 a.m. on Sunday. Officers couldn't find anyone walking in the area.
  • Officers went to a Washington Street bar after a customer wanted to report that the bouncer wouldn't let someone in for having an out-of-state license on Sunday around 10 p.m.
  • John M. Marino, 28, of Beverly, was arrested on charges of unsafe driving, speeding, driving with a suspended license, driving with suspended registration, possession of a class D drug with intent to distribute, and having an open container of marijuana in the car on Tuesday around 11 p.m. after a traffic stop on Highland Avenue.
  • Craig S. Labrie, 34, of Beverly, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of breaking and entering a vehicle in the nighttime after police responded to a call around 8 p.m. on Highland Avenue.
  • Police responded to a report of bones found while tearing up an old garage on Beckford Street on Wednesday around 4 p.m. Officers photographed the bones and consulted Salem Hospital staff, who determined that the bones were "probably not" human.
