Salem Dubbed 'Most Romantic Main Street'

SALEM, MA – Just in time for the 15th annual Salem's So Sweet Chocolate and Ice Festival, Salem made the Main Street America list of the Most Romantic Main Streets in 2017.

Salem was one of five cities and towns across the U.S. to make the list, and was lauded for its "beautiful waterfront and harbor," and "vibrant streets." The list also mentioned the inclusivity of Witch City – from it's ranking as one of the most LGBT-friendly places in the country to its age-friendly initiative – noting that all couples can enjoy Salem.

Main Street America, an organization that helps communities revitalize their downtown districts, recommended that Salem visitors spend the morning basking by one of The Merchant hotel's many fireplaces before learning more about cheese than previously thought possible at the Cheese Shop of Salem. Main Street America also recommended one of the most romantic restaurants on the North Shore, Firenze Trattoria, and cocktails at Opus.

Salem's So Sweet Chocolate and Ice Festival will go from Saturday, Feb. 10, to Monday, Feb. 12. The Chocolate & Wine Tasting Kick-off Event is sold out, but ice sculptures will be around town all weekend.
