Salem Fire To 'Soak The Kids' During Extreme Heat Wave

Children of all ages can get doused by the hoses at the Forest River Pool and Salem Common on Tuesday.

SALEM, MA — Salem residents looking for a break from this week's extreme heat can get it at a city cooling center and during a pair of "Soak The Kids" events on Tuesday.

The city will open the Mayor Jean Levesque Community Life Center at 401 Bridge Street on Monday and Tuesday until 7 p.m.

The Fire Department has scheduled two "Soak The Kids" events for Tuesday, the day with the highest predicted temperatures. Salem fire will spray down attendees at Forest River Park at 11 a.m. and at Salem Common at 1:30 p.m.

The Forest River Pool will also be available for an "open swim" on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Splash pads at Mary Jane Lee Park and outside the Forest River Pool are both open all week.
