Salem Italian Restaurant To Close For Good After Nearly 80 Years

Bertini's on Canal Street, which opened in 1943, will serve its final meals on Saturday.

SALEM, MA — An Italian-American restaurant that served generations of North Shore families will close this weekend.

Bertini's Restaurant on Canal Street will serve its final baked stuffed lasagna, seafood casserole and Italian wedding soup over the next few days before closing for good.

"What has made Bertini's such a unique pillar in this amazing community are the patrons who, day after day and week after week, came in to share meals and create memories," Bertini's owners said in a message to loyal customers. "Generations of families, children, parents, grandparents and great-grandparents have spent time with our family.

"Be it birthday celebrations, or the celebrations of life, or everything in between, it has been an honor and a privilege to be here with you through all of those treasured moments in your lives.

"In such a historical city, Bertini's Restaurant has left its historical mark."
