Salem 'Longest Table' Free Outdoor Community Dinner Back For 2025

The event to raise awareness of the Salem Food Policy Council's work will close down Salem Street on Sept. 6.

SALEM, MA — The Salem nonprofit Root will cater the second annual "Longest Table" free community outdoor dinner event set to return to downtown on Sept. 6.

The event is designed to raise awareness of the Salem Food Policy Council's work, and the work of its member organizations, and efforts to improve access to healthy, affordable, and culturally relevant foods for all city residents.

The dinner will be held on Salem Street between Chase Street and Lafayette Place by Palmer Cove Park.

All Salem community members are welcome to attend with a free registration link through EventBrite here.

Salem Street will be closed between noon and 8 p.m. between Chase Street and Lafayette Place, and there will be no parking along Palmer Cove Park across from the Saltonstall playground.

The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. with tours of the Salem YMCA’s GreenSpace gardens in Palmer Cove Park, followed by a welcome by the Salem Food Policy Council and special guest speakers. Dinner will be served by 6 p.m.

The rain location is the Saltonstall School cafeteria.
