Salem Power Outages: Nearly 2,000 Customers Affected

Charge your electronics: Power outages may be coming your way.

SALEM, MA – By 3:30 p.m., the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency estimated that 1,738 customers were without power in Salem.

While it's unclear what caused the outages, the National Weather Service forecasted winds up to 60 mph on Tuesday afternoon.

Captain Conrad Prosniewski said a transformer blew on Harbor Street, causing a few houses in that neighborhood to lose power. Bertuccio Avenue may also be experiencing a problem.

Prosniewski also reported that some trees and limbs are down on some side streets in the city, but said there was no major power outage.
