Water Main Break Affects Users from Common to the Willows

Homes and businesses between Salem Common and Salem Willows are being affected by a water main break on Friday morning.

A downtown neighborhood is dealing with a water main break on Friday morning - just blocks from another water main break a month ago.

City officials announced at about 9 a.m. on Friday that the water break occurred on Webb Street.

“DPW crews are on scene to repair the break,” said the CodeRed announcement from the city of Salem. “As a result, you may experience loss of water pressure or low pressure.”

Water service is expected to be restored on Friday afternoon.

When water service is restored, water may be discolored and city officials said that is not unusual. They recommend that if your water is brown that you do not run the hot water and instead run cold water until it clears.
