Rhode Island Man Identified In Deadly Seekonk Crash

A Pawtucket man was killed after police say he lost control of his car, causing it to crash into a tree before bursting into flames.

SEEKONK, MA — A 36-year-old man was killed after his car burst into flames following a crash in Seekonk Monday night.

Police say the driver, later identified as Richard Carlson, 36, of Pawtucket, was driving a Ford Explorer at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the car on Arcade Avenue near Scott Road around 7:30 p.m., the District Attorney's office said Tuesday.

Police say the car drove across several lawns, hit a large boulder and eventually a tree before his engine caught fire from the impact of the crash.

First responders immediately arrived at the scene and worked to put out the flames while Carlson was pulled from the car, but police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.
