Seekonk Officer Hit By Car During Chase Ending In East Providence
Police said Albert Rosario, 32, hit an officer with his car after trying to get away with shoplifting at Home Depot.
SEEKONK, MA — A Providence man was arrested Monday after police said he hit a Seekonk police officer with his car and led officers on a chase into East Providence.
Albert Rosario, 32, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, shoplifting, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and other traffic charges. Police said Rosario also had nine active warrants for his arrest in Massachusetts.
Police said the officer who got hit was one of several trying to stop Rosario from getting away after shoplifting at the Home Depot on Highland Avenue, just before noon. The police officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Rosario also drove at another police officer, but they got out of the way just in time, according to police.
Officers followed Rosario, as he crashed into numerous cars on Route 6, before rolling over after crossing into East Providence, police said. Rosario was taken into custody without further incident in East Providence, police said.
