Seekonk Welcomes Town's First Female Fire Chief
Seekonk's first female firefighter is now the town's first female Fire Chief.

SEEKONK, MA — A historic event in Seekonk has been made after the town named its first female fire chief.
Serving as interim fire chief since August, Sandra Lowery was officially called to fill in the open position.
A meeting Wednesday had selectmen unanimously voting Lowery in after Town Administrator Shawn Cadime's recommendation.

On Aug. 18, selectmen voted to open the hiring process for internal candidates.
Lowery, who has been a firefighter and paramedic for the town of Seekonk since 2002, was named Lieutenant in December 2012, and then captain of fire prevention in 2016.

Lowery has been sworn in and the town says they will be organizing an official induction ceremony at a later date, according to Cadime.
