BOYLSTON, MA — An historic diner business located along Route 140 is up for sale.

The owners of the former Chefee's 1921 Diner, 59 Shrewsbury St., have advertised the business as for sale on Facebook for $40,000. The land and building are not part of the sale price.

"Diner business for sale in Boylston, MA. All offers considered. In an Original 1921 Worcester dining car," the ad says.

The Worcester Lunch Car Company built scores of art deco dining cars between about 1905 and the mid 1950s. Of the hundreds built and shipped across the East Coast, several still remain in the area today, including Casey's in Natick, the Miss Worcester Diner in Worcester and — until May — the Edgemere Diner in Shrewsbury.

The Chefee's diner car hasn't always been located along Route 140. The car was previously sat in Allston, Worcester, Adams and then back to Worcester, according to the Clinton Item newspaper.
