Animal, Disturbance Complaints Dominate Weekend Police Calls

Friday, Sept. 20

9:23 a.m.: Animal Control advised a coyote was terminated on Gulf Street.

10:26 a.m.: A person went to the Police Department to report vandalism to a motor vehicle on Lake Street.

3:51 p.m.: A caller reported a dog was in the back of a car at Boston Turnpike and Oak Street. Animal Control was advised.

8:13 p.m.: A party in the lobby found a black and gold cat on Maple Avenue. Animal Control was advised.

Saturday, Sept. 21

2:16 a.m.: Police arrested a 26-year-old Shrewsbury man on multiple charges after responding to a home on North Quinsigamond Avenue for a reported assault.

11:28 a.m.: Police were asked to do a well-being check on a woman sitting in a parking lot on Boston Turnpike, crying. Police learned she was OK, and crying over concern for a sick relative.

1:42 p.m.: A caller reported an injured deer on the side of Boston Turnpike. Police responded and permission was granted to put down the deer.

3:35 p.m.: A caller said kids were throwing rocks at cars on Maple Avenue. The kids were gone upon police arrival.

7:18 p.m.: A caller on Tennis Drive reported a turtle was in the road. It was gone upon police arrival.

10:55 p.m.: A caller reported a dispute between her and her mother on Heywood Street. Police responded; domestic rights were given.

Sunday, Sept. 22

9:09 a.m.: A landlord and tenant dispute was reported on Power Avenue; the parties were advised of the appropriate process.

12:33 p.m.: Police received a report of a person roller-blading and impeding traffic on Hartford Turnpike. The person was gone upon police arrival.

3:23 p.m.: Police received a call that the caller's daughter had locked herself in her room. Police and medics responded. The father picked up the daughter for the night and the parties were spoken to.

4:12 p.m.: A single gunshot was reported being heard in the area of 151 Hartford Tpke. Neighbors also heard it, but they were unable to locate its origin.

7:29 p.m.: A person went to the Police Department to report a stolen bicycle.

7:46 p.m.: Police received a 911 call for a backyard pool heater fire on Colonial Drive. The Fire Department responded.
