Changes Coming To Shrewsbury Trash, Recycling, Waste Disposal

Shrewsbury residents should expect new collection practices, plus a subsidy for hazardous waste disposal.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury residents will see some changes to refuse collection and disposal in the coming months.

Starting in July, Shrewsbury will begin using new collection trucks, which means residents will get new curbside recycling carts. The town is hosting a series of events through June to help residents learn more about what to expect.

Also this spring, the town is offering a subsidy to residents who need to dispose of hazardous waste. Residents can bring certain hazardous items to the NEDT facility in Sutton, and the town will cover the first $50 of the cost of disposal per household, per calendar year. The facility is open by appointment, or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
