Free Trees In Shrewsbury For Arbor Day 2024

SELCO will be giving out trees during a town Arbor Day celebration alongside other activities.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury will mark Arbor Day this month by creating new arbors.

The town's 20th annual Arbor Day celebration at Dean Park will feature a variety of activities, including a tree giveaway sponsored by SELCO. The utility will be giving one free tree to any town resident from a selection of paper birch, lilac, scarlet oak, arrowwood and Granny Smith apple trees.

The Animal Adventures zoo hosting an animal show (starting at 10 a.m.) featuring a Eurasian eagle owl, reptiles, a chinchilla and more.

The parks department and Shrewsbury Boy Scout Troop 4 will host a tree-planting demonstration (starting at 11 a.m.).

A snack shack will be available with proceeds benefiting SELCO's Share The Warmth program, which helps people pay for heat and hot water during the winter.
