Gun Shot at Days Inn Just Misses Person in Bed
These cases were handled at the Westborough District Court.

Carl C. Hemenway, 55, of 69 Grove St., Worcester, was summonsed to court on a complaint Jan. 18, by and charged with improper storage of a large capacity firearm, disturbing the peace, discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building and malicious destruction of property $250 or more. Judge Calagione dismissed the first charge. The judge found sufficient facts on the second charge, continued the case without a finding to April 16, 2013, placed him on probation for a year and ordered him to pay $50 monthly probation fee. The judge found sufficient facts on the third charge, continued the case without a finding to April 16, 2013, placed him on probation for a year and ordered him not to possess a firearm. The judge found sufficient facts on the fourth charge, continued the case without a finding to April 16, 2013, and ordered him to pay restitution of $856.
The incident occurred at at 889 Boston Turn., Shrewsbury, according to the police document. Hemenway discharged a .45 automatic inside a room; a round came through the ceiling of room 104 and just missed the occupant on the bed, the police report said. The gun was stored in a dresser drawer, not a locked cabinet, and had no trigger lock, the police report said.
Mandy Bradley, 40, of 26 Dix St. Apt. 3L, Worcester, was arrested April 17, by Shrewsbury Police and charged with shoplifting. Judge Calagione continued the case to June 6.
Oscar Armas, 29, of 2 Linda Ave., Auburn, was arrested Feb. 15, on a warrant from Shrewsbury Police and charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, marked lanes violation, two counts of possession of ammunition with an FID card, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and failure to stop for police. Judge Calagione dismissed the charges on the district court level; he was indicted in Worcester Superior Court.
Juan R. Mercado, 21, of 30 Everett Gaylord Blvd. Apt. 8, Worcester, was summonsed to court on a complaint Nov. 24, by Shrewsbury Police and charged with possession of class B drug, possession of class E drug and driving with a suspended license. Judge Calagione dismissed the first two charges and found him guilty on the third charge. He was sentenced to 10 days in the House of Correction, with credit for time served.
