Increase In Coyote Sightings, Shrewsbury Police Warn
Just know what to do if you see a coyote. Definitely never feed them.

SHREWSBURY, MA—Due to the recent increase in coyote sightings, the Shrewsbury Police Department would is passing along more information on how to cope with these wild animals.
According to the Mass Fisheries and Wildlife website, Eastern Coyotes have been well established all over the Commonwealth. They thrive in urban areas, and use whatever food source is available. Knowing their habits and behaviors can greatly decrease the likelihood of conflict with these animals.
The Shrewsbury Police joins with Fisheries and Wildlife in recommending the following guidelines:

- Never feed coyotes (or any other wild animals).
- Secure any garbage on your property.
- Keep bird feeders off the ground, secure, and their areas clean.
- Protect produce and livestock.
- Feed pets indoors.
- Eliminate shelter areas for coyotes.
- Protect pets by keeping them leashed, under your supervision, and indoors.
