Indian Street Food Spot Coming To Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY, MA — A new Indian restaurant is planning to open its doors in Shrewsbury.

Jay Bhavani, a national chain best known for its Indian street food, will open at 510 Boston Turnpike in Shrewsbury in the next two or three weeks, according to its owner, Ujwal Raval. He was granted a common victualler license at a town Select Board meeting on Sept. 23.

Raval, who shared that he has lived in Shrewsbury since 2010, said the Shrewsbury location would be the franchise's 201st location.

"So I would bring street food taste to Shrewsbury," said Raval, adding that he and his wife were both software engineers who work for a healthcare company.

The application granted the following hours of operation: Sunday through Thursday from 8 to 12 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 8 to 2 a.m.

Raval said construction is done, and a final electrical inspection will begin this week.
