Man Accused Of Ax Assault In Shrewsbury

Police said that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

SHREWSBURY, MA — A man was charged in connection with an ax assault in Shrewsbury last month, according to police.

Felipe Silva Marcio Linhares, 22, was accused of retrieving an ax from his vehicle and striking a juvenile male with it on Dec. 30, 2025.

Shortly before 9 a.m., Officer Chad Chysna observed a disturbance on South Quinsigamond Avenue, police said. Officer Chysna followed a vehicle, which he said sped away from the scene, and pulled it over on South Quinsigamond Avenue at the intersection of Oak Street.

The driver told Officer Chysna that he was just involved in a fight. Other individuals arrived at the same stop and told Chysna that a man had gone into the residence with an ax and struck a juvenile, according to police.

The incident is under investigation, but police believe both parties were known to each other and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Marcio Linhares was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (ax) and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot).
